Fluids single-pipe heaters

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS:

As a valid alternative to traditional electric heaters, the fluids heating single-pipe electric heaters (water, oil, naphtha, etc.) are made with armoured cover (tube) stainless steel AISI 316L, inside of which a thermal field is introduced that during operation, can also reach particularly high operating temperatures, close to 800°C.

This application results particularly ideal where it is needed a complete replacement without the need to drain the basin or tank of the fluid contained inside it; in fact, due to heater maintenance needs involving a replacement, this can be easily extracted from the cover without removing it completely from the tank, that is by extracting only its internal thermal field.

The installation and replacement of the thermal field and/or complete single-pipe heater must be carried out horizontally, in general near the basin or tank bottom.

Thanks to its technical characteristics and material used quality, this heater typology can be easily used in many sectors, among them the chemical and food sectors.

Description

The heater contains one or more wire resistors (resistive coils), assembled on grooved bodies, so called ceramic material spool of high quality (cordierite KER520 or higher) with an excellent electric insulation degree and satisfactory mechanical resistance.

The wire coils crossing the grooves of the ceramic spool are made of valuable steel alloy wires, resistant to high temperatures and designed to grant an excellent heat exchange towards the external tubular sheath and, indirectly, towards the fluid.

The external sheath (cover) is formed by such a pipe material resistant to the fluids to be heated different molecular combinations. The most adopted material for this heaters typology is stainless steel AISI 316.

The internal nucleus (called thermal field) operates in particularly delicate conditions, at an internal temperature, especially at the highest surface loads, close to 800°C..

For this reason, it is suggested to use single-pipe heaters with a low surface density (W/cm2) and to equip them with an efficient temperature control by sensor bulb, positioned very close to the external sheath, or to adopt single-pipe heaters equipped with internal sensor, able to detect the nucleus temperature and therefore to extend the useful operative life, reducing the overheating risk.

Some uses

Each time the heater is immersed horizontally, with minimum distance from the basin’s bottom and from other heaters </= 150 mm.
